Incorporating New Features On Access Link Consulting’s Website

We believe that our company has a role to play in improving accessibility in Australia. Our role can be fulfilled, at least partially, by improving the user experience on our website so that information is not just more accessible, but more researched, relevant and most importantly, helpful to the disabled community, homeowners, engineers and local governments.

To improve the helpfulness of our website, we have provided information on a number of accessibility areas, including the services that we offer and the evolving specifications required by state and national authorities. This month, we’re stepping it up a notch with the inclusion of our free online calculators.

We’re rolling out two types of calculators on our website:
– Luminance Contrast Calculator
– Slope & Gradients Calculator

Luminance Contrast Calculator

Luminance contrast is determined by comparing the measurement of light reflected from one surface, compared to the light reflected from another surface.

This tool uses the Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of two surfaces to establish the luminance contrast. You’ll need two LRVs to use our calculator. You can find this information by speaking to the manufacturer or supplier of your materials or by researching the LRV on their respective websites. This information is usually easy to find.

This information can be used to help determine whether people with low vision can navigate through the built environment. It identifies features such as doorways and information signage in addition to dangerous areas such as stairways and ramps.

Slope & Gradients Calculator

This tool helps you to calculate slope details when you provide the length and height of the ramp. It can also calculate the length and height of the ramp if you provide the details of the slope. It is an essential tool that can be used in the calculation of the measurements of a ramp or the gradient, percentage and ratio of a slope.

Both tools are completely free to use on our website. We want to make it easier for buildings across Australia to alter their properties and create a more inclusive landscape for the disabled community.
